Torrex International is pleased to announce a vacancy for the position of Backup & Recovery Engineer
Location: 49D Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue, Tbilisi, Georgia Working Hours: 10:00-18:00 (Monday-Friday) Focus: Cohesity DataProtect and FortKnox, 3-2-1 backup strategy Experience: 4+ years enterprise backup and recovery Salary: Based on experience and qualification
About the role Torrex International is looking for an experienced data protection engineer who understands backup and recovery thoroughly and wants to grow into a Cohesity specialist. You will work on customer assignments where Cohesity DataProtect protects critical data and Cohesity FortKnox provides the isolated vault copy.
We do not expect Cohesity experience. We do expect a strong foundation: you know why the 3-2-1 rule exists, you have built and restored from offsite and immutable copies, and you can explain RPO and RTO to a customer. We will train you on Cohesity DataProtect and FortKnox.
Responsibilities
Design, implement and operate backup and recovery solutions based on Cohesity DataProtect
Translate customer requirements (RPO/RTO, retention, compliance) into protection policies and SLAs
Apply the 3-2-1 (and 3-2-1-1-0) strategy: production, local backup, replicated copy and an isolated immutable copy
Set up and manage the isolated vault copy with Cohesity FortKnox, including vaulting policies and recovery from the vault
Configure immutability, DataLock and WORM retention to protect backups against ransomware and insider threats
Protect workloads such as VMware/Hyper-V, physical servers, databases (SQL Server, Oracle), NAS and Microsoft 365
Plan and execute restore tests and recovery drills; document the results for the customer
Monitor backup jobs, investigate failures and resolve them, escalating to Cohesity support where needed
Write runbooks and recovery procedures, and act as point of contact for the customer on data protection
Must-have
4+ years of hands-on experience with an enterprise backup platform, for example Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, Dell PowerProtect/Avamar or IBM Spectrum Protect
Solid understanding of the 3-2-1 backup rule and why each copy, media type and offsite location matters
Experience with offsite, air-gapped or immutable backup copies (tape, object lock on S3, hardened repositories, cyber vault)
Working knowledge of RPO, RTO, retention schemes (GFS) and backup types (full, incremental, synthetic full, CDP)
Practical restore experience: full VM, file-level, database point-in-time and bare-metal recovery
Good knowledge of VMware vSphere and Windows/Linux server administration
Basic networking and storage knowledge: VLANs, firewalls, NFS/SMB, S3, deduplication and compression
English at B2 level or higher, written and spoken
Nice-to-have
Hands-on experience with Cohesity DataProtect, SmartFiles or Helios
Experience with ransomware recovery or cyber recovery planning (clean rooms, recovery sequencing, malware scanning of backups)
Knowledge of cloud backup targets and SaaS protection (AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365)
Scripting with PowerShell, Python or REST APIs for automation and reporting
Familiarity with NIS2, ISO 27001 or data sovereignty requirements for backup data
Vendor certifications such as Veeam VMCE, Commvault Certified Professional or Rubrik RCSA
What we offer
Full training on Cohesity DataProtect and Cohesity FortKnox; prior Cohesity experience is not required
Knowledge transfer from an experienced Cohesity architect during onboarding
Challenging assignments at European customers in regulated environments (NIS2, data sovereignty)
Other relevant professional training
Experience working in an international company
